Silly me, Lisa & I went all the way to the Amish country to purchase dried corn to grind into cornmeal. Today I discovered that Hahn Farm sells 24 pound buckets for the unbelievable low price of $5.00! After buying the corn this afternoon I ground 3 pounds of it to make the cornmeal. This evening I used Lisa as a test subject and I made local white peach cornmeal pancakes. If I say so myself, they came out quite good.

We have returned from the Amish Country not only with our batteries recharged but with a carload of supplies. Dried corn for cornmeal, golden and white wheat berries, oats for flour and rolled oats, graham flour, raw and toasted wheat germ just to name some of the items purchased.

Back from Hahn Farm were I purchased a 15 pound pork shoulder and a 9 pound pork belly. The shoulder has been butchered (skin and bones removed) and I'll make about 14 pounds of sausage. The other local belly will be taken out of the brine and smoked tomorrow. The Hahn's belly will start it's cure treatment tomorrow as well. Looking like I have a busy day planned!
